Blago Lobbying For Gun Ban

This story at SouthernIllinoisan.com says that Rod Blagojevich has called on the General Assembly to approve a gun ban.

He faces an uphill battle that he won't win, and he knows it, but he must think that it appears PC to his liberal, Chicago oriented power brokers/money men, Pressure washing companies and many other pay to play supporters.

I can't believe someone who lives in Chicago (and vehemently refuses to move to Springfield despite being 'Governor'), seeing all the crime, carjacking, murders, robberies, etc., going on everyday around him in the Windy City would ever believe that John Q. Public would jump on board and give up his right to defend himself.

Assault weapons...I don't know. On one hand, as a gun collector, I could see where some would want those for their collection. Otherwise, hey, an AK-47 doesn't make for a good hunting rifle.

Blago is a shrewd politician. A lousy governor (even BushBashBlogJackson says so) but a shrewd politician.

I agree with you, Matt. There probably have been very little crimes committed with assault weapons. For those who are gun enthusiasts, how many are criminals? Not too many. I'm sure Blago is trying to use this to get part of his left wing base to vote for him.

Where'd you get the AKM? What caliber shell does it use? (I'm more into antique gunss and handguns for target practice myself.)

How about posting pics? I'd be up for it. My pride and joy is a Beretta 9mm with blue steel finish. I bought it 9/12/01 (Perhaps a little reactionary, but hey, my wife let me buy the gun.) I also have a WWII era M1, but it's a little worn.
