Clinton criticizes GWB regularly

Over at a BlogDecatur post about the Fox News interview with WJClinton, a commenter seems incredulous regarding my statement about one of WJC's blatant lies during the interview. He seems to think that Clinton didn't begin criticizing this administration until this interview. He asked for proof. Here is a small portion of a simple Google search that lists just a few of the times that WJC has criticized GWB and the current administration:

January 24, 2003
Clinton Criticizes Bush Tax Cut

April 16, 2003
Former U.S. President Bill Clinton stoked rumors that he is looking for a nomination to head the United Nations again this week with comments bashing President George bush's 'isolationist' foreign policy.

April 29, 2005
Clinton Criticizes Bush Energy Bill
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Former President Clinton lashed out at the Bush administration's energy policies Friday, criticizing them as "dumb economics" during a wide-ranging speech to a friendly crowd at Brown University.

September 2005
Breaking with tradition under which US presidents mute criticisms of their successors, Clinton said the Bush administration had decided to invade Iraq "virtually alone and before UN inspections were completed, with no real urgency, no evidence that there were weapons of mass destruction."

Intolerant, Violent, Easily Offended

"Anyone who describes Islam as a religion as intolerant encourages violence" - Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Tasnim Aslam.
Is there some kind of language mixup here? What a crock.

"...Muslim anger grows at Pope speech
Hardly a news story is it? Muslims offended. Is there anything that doesn’t offend Muslims?..." read more at InHocSigno

"The pope's words have caused a deep wound in the hearts of Muslims that won't heal for a long time, and then only after a clear apology to Muslims," Egypt's religious affairs minister, Mahmoud Hamdi Zaqzouq, wrote in a column in the government daily Al-Ahram on Monday.

Ask Americans, New Yorkers in particular about the deep 9/11 wound in their hearts, Mahmoud. I think many would tell you exactly where you could stuff an apology.

This is one of the cartoons that freaked out the Muslim world enough to cause riots. Is this is a stable, peaceful religion? Say what you will about the Pope, but he found an appropriate 600 year old quote that still describes Islam, as represented by Islamo Fascists of the present day.

STS-115 Crew Completes Inspections

NASA
9/18/06
"Trailing 50 miles behind the International Space Station, the STS-115 crew conducted an inspection of Space Shuttle Atlantis’ heat shield this morning.
The crew used the robotic arm and boom sensor system to ensure that the orbiter’s leading wing edges and nose cap had not received damage from space junk and micrometeoroids.
Also on today’s work schedule is the stowage of items in preparation for the return to Earth. Otherwise, it is a light day of duty for the crew members.
Atlantis is scheduled to touch down at 5:57 a.m. Wednesday at the Shuttle Landing Facility at Kennedy Space Center, Fla. Landing will bring to an end STS-115’s successful mission to the International Space Station."

ISS Chemical Leak Stabilized, Cleaned Up

NASA
9/18/06
Crew Detects Odor; Atmosphere Recovery Efforts Under Way
"Shortly before 7:30 a.m. EDT, the International Space Station Expedition 13 crew reported an odor in the Zvezda Service Module and manually activated an alarm to begin emergency procedures. The source of the odor was quickly determined to be an apparent leak of potassium hydroxide in the station's Elektron oxygen generation system. Potassium hydroxide, or caustic potash, can be an irritant to crew members, but is not classified as a life-threatening toxin.
The crew donned surgical masks, goggles and gloves for protection from the apparently small leak. Continual measurements of the station atmosphere have indicated levels of any contaminants are very low. The crew also has begun a standard procedure to scrub the air onboard to ensure no potassium hydroxide vapors remain.
Expedition 13 Commander Pavel Vinogradov reported to Russian flight controllers at about 7:45 a.m. that the situation had stabilized and that he cleaned up a chemical near the Elektron oxygen generation system."

Democrat Misdirection

Chris Muir Day By Day

Muslims Fume Over Pope's Remarks
Is this different than the "invitation" to become Muslim from Azziz the American? It seems like a lot different approach than the kidnappers of the Fox News reporter and cameraman used. No gun to the head to convert, just an invitation to think.

Speaking of guns and thinking...
Tamara K. has the right attitude.
"I ain't goin' out like that. Whether it's some Columbine wannabe who's heard the backward-masked messages on his Marilyn Manson discs, distressed daytrader off his Prozac, homegrown Hadji sympathetic with his oppressed brothers in Baghdad, or a bugnuts whackjob picking up Robert Frost quotes transmitted from Langley on the fillings in his molars, I am going to do my level best to smoke that goblin before my carcass goes on the pile. I am not going to go out curled into a fetal ball and praying for help that won't arrive in time."
And Marko says,
"...A tangential argument for gun control is that gun crime will decrease when the number of guns available to citizens decreases. However, recent experience with country-wide "gun-free zones" (the UK comes to mind) has shown that truly dedicated criminals will always find a way to obtain firearms. Draconian gun laws not only make it even more desirable for Bad People to get guns (because they can be guaranteed that the gun gives them disproportionate power in a disarmed society), but they also shift the balance of power in society unilaterally towards those armed criminals. In other words, more gun control does indeed equal fewer guns in the hands of citizens, but those fewer guns are all concentrated in the hands of bad folks, whereas the law-abiding good folks have no effective way of fighting back..."

Chicago comes to my mind before the UK, but otherwise how can you dispute that Solid Logic?

Olberman

Hegemonic Discourse has more on "Liberal journalism (at it's worst)"

As much as Olberman seems to hate anything conservative, I think he is more obsessed with O'Reilly beating him with a big stick in the ratings race than with GWB. He hates GWB plenty, but ask him about O'Reilly and he'll quickly show you what real envy and animosity looks like. The veins will start popping out of his forehead, and the sour grapes will pop out of his mouth.

Olberman and O'Reilly are more alike than either of them would care to admit. Topical pundits, neither is a truly competent journalist, and both are so enamoured with themselves that the accurate presentation of news always comes in a distant second to their own self promotion. O'Reilly is just a lot more experienced and adept at self promotion than Olberman.

Launch Delayed by Fuel Cell Problem

Launch Delayed by Fuel Cell Problem
The launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis was postponed today for at least 24 hours due to a problem that occurred Tuesday night during the activation of one of the shuttle's three electricity-producing fuel cells. A spike and drop in voltage was noticed on fuel cell number one. Troubleshooting is ongoing, and the problem has been isolated to a coolant pump that helps cool the fuel cell system. The Mission Management Team is scheduled to meet at 12p.m. CDT today to review more data and assess the problem, and a news conference will follow.

Blagojevich Ad Blitz Net Zero - Constitutional Atrocity

Ad blitz doesn’t pull Blagojevich ratings up
By Kevin McDermott
POST-DISPATCH SPRINGFIELD BUREAU
09/02/2006
SPRINGFIELD, ILL.
A multimillion-dollar television advertising blitz hasn't bought Gov. Rod Blagojevich a single percentage point of increased popularity in recent months, according to a new poll that shows his support among Illinoisans still stuck below 50 percent going into his fall re-election race.

"Governor Blagojevich has been criticized by the Illinois State Rifle Association,
saying that "Rod should spend more time catching criminals and less time controlling guns." His support for tightening the already strict gun laws of Illinois has earned him the ire of gun rights groups." (wikipedia)

STS-115 Launches Wednesday at 11:29 CDT

"Atlantis (OV-104) was delivered to Kennedy Space Center in April 1985.
It lifted off on its maiden voyage on Oct. 3, 1985, on mission 51-J, the second dedicated Department of Defense flight. Later missions included the launch of the Galileo interplanetary probe to Jupiter on STS-34 in October 1989, and STS-37, with the Gamma Ray Observatory (GRO) as its primary payload, in April 1991."

Atlantis STS-115 mission
"Atlantis STS-115 mission resumes assembly of the International Space Station (ISS) with delivery of the Boeing [NYSE: BA] Port 3/Port 4 (P3/P4) truss segment and two power-producing solar arrays.
The 34,885-pound truss is the next major addition to the 11-segment integrated truss structure that eventually will span more than 300 feet and carry power, data and temperature control for the orbital outpost's electronics.
One of the unique elements of P3/P4 is the Solar Alpha Rotary Joint, located between P3 and P4, which rotates 360 degrees every 90 minutes to keep the solar array wings oriented toward the Sun as the station orbits the Earth."

Al Qaeda #2 captured

Washington Post story...
BAGHDAD, Sept. 3
Iraqi armed forces have arrested the No. 2 leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq, the country's national security leader said Sunday.
The leader, Hamed Jumaa Faris Juri al-Saaydi, was captured within the past few days near Baqubah, along with 20 other senior members of the Sunni Arab insurgent group, which was responsible for savage beheadings of kidnapped foreigners and suicide attacks that sometimes killed dozens of civilians in a single strike, said the security adviser, Mowaffak al-Rubaie.
Saaydi, also known as Abu Humam or Abu Rana, ordered the February attack on the golden-domed Shiite shrine in Samara that ignited the ongoing ferocious wave of sectarian killings..."

One of the keys to the above story, beyond the fact that it was the #2 guy who was captured, but that the Iraqi armed forces conducted the operation. They had great support I'm sure. Hamed is also said to be giving up his accomplices to the Iraqi forces and has led to 20 more terrorists captured.

Nationalize Wal-Mart?

Nationalize Wal-Mart?
"On any list of major national concerns, the "Wal-Mart problem" would not rank in the first 50. Why, then, are some leading Democratic politicians spending so much time talking about it? People who ask that question may conclude that Wal-Mart, though a tempting target as a political symbol, is mostly a diversion from weightier issues where what politicians think and do really matters."

The cartoon at the MCR's blog fits this story well.
